Nicole Braun is originally from the canton of Bern, where she discovered her passion for prevention and health promotion during a gap year after Swiss Matura while working in a hospital. This experience led her to begin her studies in 2020 at the Department of Sport, Exercise and Health (DSBG) in Basel. During her Bachelor’s and Master’s studies (completed in 2025), she was continuously engaged in practical work. She led exercise groups for individuals across different age and performance levels and was involved in physical activity promotion projects for populations ranging from youth to older adults. In addition, she gained valuable experience in performance diagnostics at the Sport Medicine Outpatient Clinic of the University of Basel and completed an internship at the Federal Office of Sport (BASPO) in Magglingen within the environment of the Swiss Ski Federation, where she deepened her knowledge in performance diagnostics and gained insights into elite sports. In 2024, she also completed the training as a Personal Health Coach at Saluta Coach and has since been applying her coaching skills in her practical work with patients. After her studies, she worked in sports therapy with patients suffering from neurological and musculoskeletal conditions, supporting them in returning to an active daily life. In parallel, she worked as a research assistant in the PEPC study at DSBG. Since early 2026, she has been working as a PhD candidate in the “CardioCoach” project (DSBG, in collaboration with Cloé Muriel). Her research focuses on cardiac rehabilitation with the aim of strengthening secondary prevention and enabling patients to maintain a long-term active and healthy lifestyle.
